This semester was a unique one for not only our chapter but for the entire university. With unprecedented plans forcing the students to leave campus, it was unfortunate to leave our brothers in March instead of May this year. While we did have to adapt to the situation, our chapter has stayed on top in every fraternal aspect at UNK. At the Fraternity Sorority Life Banquet, our chapter won the Nester Cup, which represents highest fraternity GPA, for the 12th time in a row.
While academics plays an important part in our college careers, it is not everything. UNK Intramurals brought back the Greek Life Intramural Tournament for the first time in years, and points were given for receiving either 1st or 2nd place in each league/tournament. Even with spring sports being cancelled due to COVID-19 where many of our brothers participate in basketball and soccer, we dominated with a total of 864 points and won the tournament, with 2nd place going to the sorority Alpha Phi.
We have also maintained important leadership positions on campus. 4 of the 8 Interfraternity Council executive board are SigEps, including the IFC President, and 7 of the 8 male Chancellor’s Ambassadors are our brothers. Former SigEp President Max Beal took a step forward in leadership by becoming the UNK Student Body President. In regard to philanthropies, we raised nearly $5000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters through the LFD Concert in the Courtyard and raised over $6500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the SigEp Skate-a-thon. Unfortunately, Augie and our Big Baller Bracket for March Madness were both cancelled due to COVID-19. Overall, SigEp has proven to be a strong organization in Greek Life, on campus, and in the community
