While many events this year were cancelled or drastically changed due to COVID, our brothers were still able to represent the fraternity in different events on campus. Homecoming still occurred, just in a COVID regulated fashion involving social distancing and masks. Some changes included limited capacity at events and a private parade on campus instead of a public parade downtown. Royalty consists of 8 undergraduate students, 4 females and 4 males, and they are voted on by the UNK student body. For the 2nd year in a row, SigEps accounted for half of the male candidates in Homecoming Royalty. Two of our brothers, Noah Limbach and Henrique Adabo, were nominated for Homecoming Royalty and represented Sigma Phi Epsilon in the crowning ceremony and the parade. It is great to see this level of representation as Homecoming Royalty can be regarded as a reflection of the social aspect of an organization.
Alpha Phi, a sorority at UNK, hosted their annual King of Hearts competition, a male pageant show. This event was done differently this year due to COVID. Instead of a live event, it was recorded separately and presented as a video to the audience. Following the video, awards were given live. Our brother Jacob Wayman represented SigEp as a contestant and performed “Let Her Go” by Passenger on the guitar. He did a fantastic job and exhibited one of the best talents of all the contestants with his singing and guitar skills. We are very proud of his hard work and dedication of representing SigEp in a great way.
Our brothers have also been representing SigEp in various organizations. Max Beal still holds the UNK Student Body President position. Five SigEps were selected as Chancellor’s Ambassadors. Two SigEps were elected on the IFC board. Six SigEps were selected to join the Order of Omega Honor Society. One of our new members was chosen as one of two freshmen student senators. SigEps are also on executive positions in other campus organizations such as Exercise Science club and the Supply Chain Management organization. All in all, we continue to encourage and strive to be greatly involved not only in Sigma Phi Epsilon but many other organizations on campus.
